Our School History
Ilocanos Elementary School was built on June 15, 1957 with three catchment areas namely Barangay Ilocanos Norte, Ilocanos Sur and Pagdaraoan.
According to Miss Angeles Hidalgo, a former teacher in this school, during the Summer of 1957, the Teniente Del Barrio Atty. Norberto Paa received a letter from the District Supervisor of San Fernando, Anselmo Flores, informing him that Hon. Francisco “ Pacoy” Ortega Sr. recommended that a school be put up in Ilocanos Norte and he added further that he set aside Php 8,000.00 from his pork barrel for the purchase of a lot where to put up the school in Ilocanos Norte. Miss Alicia Aljentera and Miss Rosario Arcaina surveyed for incoming Grade I pupils from Ilocanos Norte, Ilocanos Sur and Pagdaraoan.

Classes started in June 1957 in Mr. Anastacio Villanueva’s residence housed the Grade I pupils. Mr. Demetrio Flores was the first Grade I teacher for one week then. He was recalled by the District Supervisor and assigned Mrs. Maria Gurion to take over his class but after two weeks ,Miss Gurion was again recalled by the District Office and Miss Alicia Aljentera became the adviser of Grade I pupils in that year.After several weeks the Grade II class was again organized and Miss Angeles Hidalgo was assigned to teach. They rented another house while waiting for another building to be constructed.. After more than 58 years of existence, more children availed of education in this school.
